Skyfall and My Brother the Devil Homework.

Write two/three paragraphs comparing Skyfall and My Brother the Devil.

My Brother the Devil is a 2012 British film written and directed by Sally El Hosaini. It was produced by Rock Nest entertianment and Wild Horses film company. It tells the story of two sons of Egyptian immigrants, growing up in east london.

Hackney picturehouse is an art house cinema. Art house cinemas are different from most cinemas, the range of films they show supposedly caters to less mainstream tastes than most cinemas and there is an emphasis on independent, cult and foreign language films. Most of their promotional material is specific to individual cinemas rather than the network as a whole, however they also show mainstream Hollywood films that they consider interesting. My Brother the devil and Skyfall are both shown at hackney picture house, even though Skyfall has a huge audience and is shown at all most every mainstream cinema. My brother the devil has a much lower audience than skyfall and is not showing in mainstream cinemas, it also had no out of house advertising, where as skyfall has plenty.

Both Skyfall and My Brother the Devil were advertised on social networking sites such as; Youtube, Twitter and Facebook. They both have trailers that advertise the film, but unlike Skyfall, My Brother the Devil had no other advertising as it had a lower budget than Skyfall. Skyfal was advertised on photo billboards on the sides of busses, there were posters, and loads of merchandise such as; cups, t-shirts, nail vanish and many more. Skyfall was also advertised through the synergy of Adeles song, that she wrote and sang specifically for the film.
